A Space to Understand What Comes Next

Player development is not just about how you play. It is also about understanding what you are experiencing along the way. Amistad City gives young players a space to think, reflect and prepare for what comes next on and off the field. We meet players where they are and help them move forward with greater clarity around the weeks and months ahead throughout the season.

Development

Continues Beyond

Training

A player can be surrounded by good coaches, strong teammates and supportive parents and still have questions about their role, confidence, feedback or what they should focus on next.

Amistad City creates space for those conversations. The goal is to help the player better understand what they are experiencing and gradually take greater ownership.

Amistad City is designed to complement the people and environments already supporting the player.

What a Mentorship Session Looks LIKe

Check In

Understand where the player is, what has happened since the last conversation and what feels most important right now

Create Clarity

Talk through the situation, reflect on what the player is experiencing and identify one or two areas to focus on

Look Ahead

Prepare for the next few weeks, an upcoming challenge or a conversation the player may need to have

Support That Can Grow With The Player

Some players may come to Amistad City because of one particular moment. Others may benefit from having a consistent place to reflect as their role, environment and experiences change over time.

Ongoing mentorship is typically once or twice per month, with twice monthly providing the strongest rhythm for continuity. Every few sessions, we can step back and look at the broader picture through a development checkpoint.
